I went up to the HP Anywhere hackathon today in San Francisco. This hackathon was a bit different from the others I’ve been to.
Sure, there have been food trucks at other hackathons. Curry Up Now served burritos for lunch. That wasn’t what was different.
Today was a quiet workday. Except for the SAP center, where workers finished installing the huge sign.
Tonight we went to BlackBox’s mansion in Atherton.
This afternoon we were invited over to Google to play with Google Glass.
I started the second day of Code Camp attending Seemant Kulleen’s session on Who are your customers?
The Silicon Valley Code Camp conference is being held this weekend at Foothill College. This conference is free to attend and has over 200 sessions over two days with all kinds of topics from technology to business models.
The first session I went to was with Les Hazelwood on Beautiful REST + JSON APIs. He gave tips on what an API should support. It is important to include the media type in request and response headers so that each party understands the payload being sent.
Sleek-geek was invited to pitch at the Bay Area Capital Connections Conference with four other startups. The conference was held in the Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland. Co-chairman Mike Gunning, of the Alliance for Community Development Board, kicked the event off.
Today Jose Florido came in to talk to us. He is a UX designer and entrepreneur from Spain. He started his first company, a web design studio, in 2002, worked with a Cuban friend on Loquo.com, a craigslist clone for Spain in 2004 and sold in 2005, and started Panoramio.com, which was sold to Google in 2007.
Steve Cadigan came to give us advice on HR. He is a coach, speaker and adviser with over 25 years of leadership and executive experience in the field of HR. He has practiced HR across Asia, Canada and the US, including over ten years of experience living and working overseas.
