Day 7: America's Cup and TechCrunch Disrupt hackathon

09/08/13 | Hackathons, On the ground

Today I went up to San Francisco for the TechCrunch Disrupt hackathon. Since it started after noon, I biked over to the America’s Cup Park. The crowd gathering at the gate for the 10am opening was sizable and energetic.

Day 6: NASA Ames

09/07/13 | NASA, On the ground

Today I was invited over to NASA Ames to attend the science night and watch the live stream of the LADEE spacecraft launch onboard the Minotaur V rocket. Representatives from different missions and projects at NASA Ames were available to share their knowledge of the science that Ames is part of everyday.

Day 5: Shadows of San Jose

09/06/13 | On the ground

Who said you can’t find something interesting to do on a sunny afternoon. After a trip on Caltrain down to San Jose, I biked over to the library again. Today, I had a beautiful view of the clear blue skies.

Day 3: Richmond, Treasure Island, Palo Alto

09/04/13 | On the ground

When you can’t take Caltrain and where a bike path isn’t completed yet, the only option is to cross that bridge by car. Today’s adventure included the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge, the Rosie the Riveter Historical Park in Richmond, and the Silicon Valley New Tech meetup in Palo Alto.

Things never go as planned even when you don’t have plans. That sums up today’s adventure up to San Francisco on Caltrain. It all began with the morning Baby Bullet.

Day 1: San Francisco

09/02/13 | On the ground

Three years ago I travelled around the United States on JetBlue and learned something about where I live. The Bay Area has a lot of diversity and things to do. You can experience quite a bit by just exploring the cities near where you live. Many people have the tendency to forget this in the routine daily lives we have.

Since I have a Caltrain monthly pass, I’m going to see what I can see that is either a walk or a bike-ride away from Caltrain. Hoping for non-rainy weather, but it’s the Bay Area.

Inside IRIS and LADEE Mission Operations Center

08/15/13 | NASA, On the ground

IRIS is a solar observing satellite in polar orbit around the Earth. Because it is in polar orbit, the satellite can always see the sun. The goal of the mission is to study the sun and the energy transfer from the chromosphere to the corona of the sun by looking at the ultraviolet frequencies.
