Day 5: Shadows of San Jose
Who said you can’t find something interesting to do on a sunny afternoon. After a trip on Caltrain down to San Jose, I biked over to the library again. Today, I had a beautiful view of the clear blue skies.
I passed by the park adjacent to the Children’s Discovery Museum. The life-sized Monopoly board with huge dice is always fun to visit, though I wish it could be played!
Next to the board was an art display named Parade of Animals, sculpted by Michael Boris. As I was photographing the different animals, I noticed the shadows they made were more interesting. How many can you guess from the shadows they make?
What big ears you have!
A rabbit.
You have feathers.
A bird!
Catching your food might get you a little wet.
A bear and a fish.
A piece of art can have more than one appearance if you look closely. It only requires a little imagination.
I wandered around the park looking for more shadows. A skateboarder past by and traveled down a tunnel of shadows.
Outside the Children’s Discovery Museum they have a large animal. What is it?
The tail of a big elephant.
Diagonal shadows that repeat?
Parallel walls.
A heart shadow?
A heart made by the feet of two children in the piece of art.
Long skinny shadows in nearly the same direction?
Palm trees near the SAP Center.
Looking for shadows was a fun and fascinating game. Try it and open your mind up to the things you may just pass by without realizing.
It was time to board the afternoon Caltrain going north.
In Mountain View, I transferred over to the VTA and headed over to the office of Elance where there was another technical meetup.
The meetup had several talks about PubNub, Modular HTML5 Applications, and how gaming engines are now possible in the browser.
One last train for the day.
