On Wednesday night NASA Ames hosted the first IRIS Science Cafe at the NASA Ames Visitor Center. The science cafe program was the first in a series of evening programs NASA Ames is piloting. The first program focused on the IRIS spacecraft and was led by Kimberly, Gary Kushner, and Chris Hoffman.

Hertz came back to the Bay Area this past weekend for another connected car hackathon this year. With an assortment of prizes, along with other sponsors including AT&T, Mojio, and Gracenote, there was plenty of stuff for developers to play with.

AT&T was back at NestGSV in Redwood City hosting another hackathon this weekend. This hackathon was centered around mobile apps and wearables. Sponsors present were Plantronics, Neurosky, and Lob. Dinner on Friday night was Chinese food.

Apps World just wrapped up a two day conference at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. The conference showcased startups to larger companies who develop mobile apps. The conference started with a keynote with Wosniak.

This past weekend I was invited to the Collective’s DisruptFilm Summit in Park City, Utah. The Collective hosted the firstever hackathon concurrent with the Sundance Film Festival. When I heard about this opportunity to hack and to visit beautiful Utah in the middle of winter, I couldn’t resist. And it gets even better.

The DisruptFilm Summit hosted by the Collective held a panel session of entreprenurial women. Cooper Harris, an award-winning producer, actor, and entrepreneur in Los Angeles, moderated the panel.

Andy Chung spoke about the delicate task of finding the next thing that can become huge at the DisruptFilm Summit in Park City, Utah. He is a partner at Khosla Ventures, which has six investing partners and $3 billion under management. They have a $300 million seed fund for high-risk, higher-return experiments and a $18 million main fund for 50% sustainability, 50% in IT and consumer health.
