Kennebunkport, Maine was a short stop during my journey in Maine.  Although visibility was limited due to the dense fog, a reminder of being back home on the west coast, it was a quiet and peaceful little town.

The Oak View Farm History Center in North Carolina explains farm life and the equipment used over the last three hundred years.  Visitors can see how cotton is grown, picked and processed in a cotton field.

Long Beach Navy Memorial

Long Beach’s naval history dates back to 1908 with the arrival of President Theodore Roosevelt’s 16-ship Great White Fleet.  By the 1920s Long Beach established itself as a major naval installation on the West Coast.  For the next eight decades, it was home to sailors and shipbuilders, battleships and aircraft carriers.
