A thousand words

Kennebunkport, Maine was a short stop during my journey in Maine.  Although visibility was limited due to the dense fog, a reminder of being back home on the west coast, it was a quiet and peaceful little town.


Chicago is a great place to walk around and see at your own pace. Here are a few pictures of the places I saw during my visit.

This photo of the Pennsylvania War Veterans’ Memorial Fountain was taken in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Oak View Farm History Center in North Carolina explains farm life and the equipment used over the last three hundred years.  Visitors can see how cotton is grown, picked and processed in a cotton field.

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has a few historical buildings and places to see around the State Capitol.  Here are a few I saw during my visit.

The Biltmore Estate in Ashville, North Carolina has many fascinating features.  From the servants quarters to the indoor swimming pool and the state-of-the-art elevator, the property has many impressive parts to view.

Long Beach’s naval history dates back to 1908 with the arrival of President Theodore Roosevelt’s 16-ship Great White Fleet.  By the 1920s Long Beach established itself as a major naval installation on the West Coast.  For the next eight decades, it was home to sailors and shipbuilders, battleships and aircraft carriers.

In the middle of a short walk between the Temple Square and the State Capitol building was the Brigham Young Historic Park. The park is a representation of the lives and industry of Brigham Young and the early pioneers.
