Day 14: America's Cup
What an amazing day at the America’s Cup Park. After getting off the train I made my way up to the America’s Cup Park and caught the US team leaving for the first race.
As I made my way over to the water, I stopped by the trophy, guarded by two men with white gloves.
As the first race start time approached, I staked out a spot along the rail at the end of Pier 27. There was a pilot standing next to me who had flown in this weekend by chance. He ended up coming up to watch the race.
Three media helicopters flew by and did an aerial act that got the crowd riled up.
Even some birds flew by for their primetime shots.
The crowds swelled at the end of the pier.
The race started at 1:15 and everyone had their phones tuned into the live video feed. As the two teams came into view, everyone started snapping pictures.
As the two teams neared the last corner, the crowd started yelling. They weren’t yelling in excitement for the teams. They were yelling at two boats that were passing in the line of sight between hundreds of us onshore and the racing teams. This is not the kind of advertising you really want to aim for.
Fortunately the boats passed by and the teams raced towards the finish line, helicopters trailing close behind.
After Oracle won, the teams passed by the spectators on land and the crowd cheered enthusiastically.
The second race was delayed for wind limits being exceeded. They eventually were able to start racing, but the race was cancelled midway due to the wind speeds.

On the way out, I passed by this boat, Senses from George Town. Lots of toys to play with on board. There was even an empty spot in the middle of the boat has room for yet another boat.
Time for a full moon this week.
Another beautiful view of the Bay Bridge at sunset.
